Joy to receive.
Joy to give.
●Otoshidama 2.0
While completely unrelated to the outdoors, we've created what could be simply described as a "donation-enabling small envelope."
・Using recycled paper from origami cranes,
・Design and packaging work done at employment support facilities,
・A portion of sales donated.
This product embodies a project where:
"Just by giving otoshidama, you contribute to welfare activities."
●Recycled paper from origami cranes
I was born and raised in Hiroshima, and our store is located just a two-minute walk from the Atomic Bomb Dome, so I'm what you might call a true Hiroshima native.
And so, we chose this recycled paper from origami cranes for the material of our small envelopes.
●Design
We decided to commission the design to an employment support facility that we have a good relationship with. Not just the pattern design, but all aspects of the work, including painting and packaging.
At our store, we have collaborated with facilities for people with disabilities to produce various products, including camping gear, interior goods, and souvenirs.
Nevertheless, there's always a shortage of work, so we immediately consulted with the facility we work with, thinking that this "Musubi" project might be an opportunity to change the situation, even if only a little. They readily agreed.
There are four colors, and we've made stamps of this pattern for everyone at the facility to enjoy pressing.
●Why "Musubi" (結)?
When explaining the design of the noshi (decorative gift wrapper) to everyone at the facility, I mentioned, "This part here is like a knot..." and they drew the kanji character for "結" (Musubi) just as it is, and I thought, "Ah, that's good." Haha.
We adopted it as is, and that's how the name "Musubi" was decided.
Originally, otoshidama (New Year's money) is said to have originated from the custom of families sharing kagami mochi (mirror-shaped rice cakes), which were offerings to the Toshigami (New Year's deity).
I truly believe that such Japanese culture of sharing and giving a share is wonderful, and that "expressing one's feelings for others" is what truly connects people.
By the way, the reason why we deliberately omitted the characters for "Otoshidama" on the envelope and only included "Musubi" is because we want this small envelope to be used for more than just Otoshidama.
●About Donations
This is actually quite important: we believe that donating a portion of our sales to welfare activities can create an even better cycle. That's why we've decided to donate one-third of Musubi's sales to the Nippon Foundation Children Support Fund. Create, deliver, give. A system that brings a positive cycle to society throughout all these processes. ・We will provide sequential reports on the execution of donations via our company website and social media. We are committed to responsibly executing donations to ensure that the support we receive from everyone is accurately conveyed.

We're taking the idea mentioned earlier – that "otoshidama is an annual custom, and if it could become a job, it might lead to stable work and income for facilities for people with disabilities" – a step further.●Our Promise to You
・The specific donation amount will be one-third of the price of one Musubi (150 yen excluding tax), which is 50 yen. Donations will be transferred to the recipient each time a certain amount (100,000 yen) is reached.
